• Question: how does the Mass Spectrometer work?

      you take a sample …in this case breath …

      and you put it into the Mass Spec ….by breathing into the tube connected to the Mass Spec

      the mas spec then breaks down the sample (breath)_ into its smallest possible bits …

      these bits are then pushed through a very small but very very long tube

      each tiny bit will stick to the tube at a difference place depending on what it is (separation)

      we can then look at the tube and see what the breath is made up of.
