This is a great observation emeraldtail! Yes, we do use body language to express our feelings. This is something that humans have done for a long, long, time and some animals do it too. It’s a form of non-verbal communication which means that we can usually tell how someone is feeling without them having to speak and tell us.
Can you tell is a friend is happy? What sort of things do the do to show this without speaking? They may smile or jump up and down and that helps others know how they are feeling.
What about sad feelings? People may have drooped shoulders, not be smiling, crying etc and you can usually tell that fairly quickly too.
Lying is a very interesting situation too. Can you tell if someone is lying? What kind of things do they do? They might not even know they are doing it!!
It is a very useful thing and helps people communicate without talking. Imagine you were in another country and you didn’t speak the language – body language could be very helpful in you communicating with others!
Let me know if i can help with anything else 🙂
