Scientists often travel to attend conferences. These are places where lots of scientists will come together to discuss their work, and they are an important part of research. Most research is done across the world, so these conferences are a good chance to actually meet someone you talk to online. Also, a lot of new ideas come out of conferences, and start even more research. Without them things would take a lot longer.

Yes, that’s a great perk of the job! As Luke says, conferences are great places for scientists to go and meet other scientist and hear about their work. These are help all over the world and I’ve been lucky enough to go to lots in some very exciting places! My favourite was San Francisco, USA. i took my husband too and we went on holiday afterwards to amazing places like Yosemite National Park and Alcatraz Prison. I’m going to Dublin this summer too and i’m really looking forward to it.
