The idea of the project that I have set for you took a few hours to design. However to get to this point, and be able to give you this chance has taken me around 5 years. During this time I have run a lot of studies where we have answered questions that allow us to understand how we exercise. So the question I am asking you is based on well developed answers over a five year period.

This project has taken me about 2 years in total.

I am working on this project with my collaborator in Birmingham University and we are writing grants to ask for more money to carry out the project in more school sin Birmingham.

Hopefully we can do this project with your school this year 🙂

This one is a bit tricky for me to answer, as most of the work I do is not easily broken down into projects. However, there is one big thing that I am doing, and I started that about three months ago now. Unfortunately, because of the snow last week, I had to cancel an important meeting today about it. I am not very popular!

My current project and the one I’d like your help with is brand new! 🙂 I teach human anatomy to medical students and surgeons every day, but we don’t know how much primary school children know about their own bodies and so I’d like to find out and then design fun activities to do lots more anatomy education with you and other schools.

My other projects, the ones where I try to build body parts in the lab, have been going for about 8 years now. I am especially interested in growing bones in the lab, and tendons – the ‘stringy’ bits that connect muscles to bone – and ligaments that connect bone to bone.

Well my latest project, which is my PhD will take another 4 years to be over. One can do a PhD after many years of college, after school. Usually it takes 5-6 years of education after school and if one feels like studying more, one can do a PhD, after which one can get the title of a doctor 🙂 But we are not the same doctors you see when you’re ill, we are ones who’ve done many years of research on a topic.
