Great question! It takes a few years for the body to mature from a child’s body to an adults and this is the time in life know as puberty. During puberty, lots of changes happen due to the increase in production of male and female hormones, depending on whether you are a boy or a girl. Sakshi can probably tell you a bit more about how these hormones make us different, but from a purely anatomical way of looking at things, children will grow taller, bodies will change shape and sex organs will develop further. In boys, this means that they usually grow tall and get broad shoulders, they will start to see hair appearing all over the body, but especially on face, chest and around sex organs. Your voice box also changes and both men and women will have deeper voices than boys and girls, but men usually have a deeper voice overall. This is to do with the ‘voice box’ in the throat. In girls, they will also grow taller, but will develop breasts, usually develop ‘hips’, will also see increased hair growth and start periods.
Becoming an adult also means there are changes in the way you think, the responsibilities you have and the things you like may also change. It’s a complicated process!
